Sandra’s Story
Sandra has a learning disability and autism. For over 30 years, she lived in a residential care setting in a rural location with ten other adults. When Sandra was younger, she enjoyed spending time with others and helping on the farm. In later life, her health needs and interests changed.
Sandra’s social worker reached out to Prosperity Care and Wellbeing to find an alternative care option. Sandra now lives in a quiet, homely environment with one other person, which offers her and her housemate plenty of space. Sandra’s sister said; ‘Sandra has found a new lease of life and is the happiest and most settled she has been in many years. She has an active social life and the staff at Prosperity Care and Wellbeing are wonderful.’
We are grateful to have been able to support Sandra in finding a living situation that meets her needs and allows her to thrive.
Ryan’s Story
Ryan has been receiving support from mental health services since he was 16. At times Ryan has struggled with life’s challenges and has had difficulty remembering to take his medications.
Ryan moved into a Prosperity Care and Wellbeing service and now shares a home with two other individuals. He enjoys having staff around ‘in the background’ so that he can seek support when he needs it but likes to ‘come and go’ as he pleases. Ryan is thriving at college and is proudly working towards an apprenticeship.
Ryan said “The staff at Prosperity Care and Wellbeing are great. They support me when I’m not feeling well without taking over. They give me my space but genuinely care about me so I know I can talk to them about my worries.”
We are so proud of all that Ryan has accomplished and are grateful to have been able to support him on his journey.
